Art Inspired by Satyajit Ray




We have been reading short stories from "The Exploits of Professor Shonku" by the well known Bengali writer, Satyajit Ray. The stories are full of fascinating imagery, and we becme inspired by the image of a Sadhu hanging upside-down yelling mantras and bringing dead animals back to life by casting spells on their bones.

We worked in pairs to create our initial pencil drawing on A3 paper. Then, we photocopied the original twice so that we had a copy each. The task was to add our own personal touches to the collaborative drawing by adding more details and by using colour in an individual way. The results are fantastic.
